tossed up, bit of a heave from Peterson and the ball disappears through mid-off, no one there, wins it with a four - Surrey win by three wickets and will go to Finals Day for the second year running
Worcs vs Surrey, 2nd Quarter-Final at London, Aug 02 2014 - Ball by Ball Commentary
5.20pm: Well, it wasn't pretty, by any means, but Surrey dug themselves out of a hole of their own making to reach the last four of the Blast. Jason Roy got them well ahead with that 20-ball half-century and Robin Peterson kept cool at the end... It's tough on Worcestershire, who have still never got further than the quarter-finals, but their total never looked like being enough. All of Surrey's bowlers chipped in, only Richard Oliver and Joe Leach made it to 20 for Worcestershire; big city trumps small town again. With that dynamic in mind, Birmingham are the outsiders travelling to Chelmsford for the evening fixture, with the toss about to take place - join Gnasher for full commentary starting shortly.
Up comes the field, just a couple needed to win
down on one knee, slogged over wide long-on, that could be decisive, Peterson hitting with the turn and it sails into the crowd
I think Batty is being told to calm down by the umpires... Sounds about right
tossed up outside off stump, drops back and cuts a single through square
Down to brass tacks now, Surrey only need nine, three wickets still standing... Choudhry backon
short ball, taking the pace off but Peterson plays it well, delayed the pull and then got it fine, runs for a potentially vital boundary
short ball from Munro, pulled powerfully, looked to be beating Oliver at deep midwicket but he sticks out a hand and pulls off a terrific stop
good length outside off and chopped into the off side
Out comes Gareth Batty, feisty chap if ever there was one. Mitchell has a slip in
nippy bouncer from Munro, swishes at it, there's glove involved - Ansari is gone, caught by the keeper trotting to his right! Another one gone, they are chipping away. Smartly bowled by Munro, though not very well played
on the stumps and nudged through backward square
signalled wide, though it didn't look particularly errant as it sailed past Peterson, playing back
slightly short outside off, steered down to third man off the back foot
Colin Munro on, wicket to wicket, you expect
goes around the wicket, short and slightly wide, tapped off the back foot behind point
Still a slip in, Worcestershire have to bowl Surrey out to win this...
pitched up outside off stump, Ansari goes back and shoulders arms
nicely struck off the back foot, through the off side, misbegotten bit of relay fielding between Munro and D'Oliveira gifts them a couple more
Surrey's nerves jangle again, out comes Zafar Ansari
around the wicket, dug in short and top-edged to fine leg! McClenaghan roars in delight, the ball was fast and cramped the batsman, couldn't control the shot and Worcestershire have another
length ball around off stump, Peterson drives and it comes off the inside half of the bat, single towards mid-on
goes around the wicket, slower ball on the stumps, carefully defended
walloped, six over deep midwicket! Emphatic stroke from Azhar, swatting across the line and the ball cannoned off the middle of the bat
incutter from Shantry, hits Peterson on the back pad but probably a little high, deflects to short third man
little bit wide from Shantry and Azhar slashes at it, thick edge through backward point for one
