full outside off, he reaches out and squeezes it between point and short third-man to seal the match for Pakistan
Bangladesh vs Pakistan, 6th Match at Christchurch, T20I Tri-Series, Oct 13 2022 - Match Result
Right, that's all from us for today. We'll be back again tomorrow to bring you all the action from the final of the tri-nation. Do join us for that. Until then, it's goodbye.
Babar Azam: Definitely I'm happy. We are playing well, a win always gives you confidence. We weren't up to the mark with the ball. Me and Rizwan started well and Nawaz was outstanding. We were waiting for our middle order to step up and win us a match. Looking forward to the final and carrying momentum from this game
Shakib al Hasan: It's been difficult (on the series). We played our best game today. We could have scored more in the last over with the bat. The position we were in we could have scored more but if you gave me 170 at the start of the innings, I'd have taken that. We're clear on our plans for the World Cup. My bowling's not been up to the mark.
Mohammad Rizwan is the player of the match: Credit to Bangladesh's bowlers. They bowled really well. We wanted to keep wickets in hand in the first 10. I'd like to credit Mohammad Nawaz as he made it easy in the end. Nawaz's innings changed the momentum. Obviously, the win gives us confidence. New Zealand is playing at home (on the final tomorrow) but we have confidence.
Mohammad Nawaz took a beating with the ball but his cameo with the bat has helped Pakistan get over the line. Mohammad Rizwan was solid as ever, nearly batting through the innings, but had it not been for Nawaz's timely hitting, Pakistan might have fallen short. Babar Azam was into the runs as well, making a fifty and laying the foundation for the chase along with Rizwan. Couple of wickets late in the chase brought Bangladesh back into the contest but Nawaz held his nerve to take Pakistan home with a ball to spare. Bangladesh will rue their last couple of overs with the bat which accounted for just 12. So no consolation win for Bangladesh and Pakistan go into the final with confidence under their belt.
goes short, he pulls to the right of deep square leg and that levels the scores
full toss outside off, lofts it over cover, doesn't time it perfectly but away to long-off's right for a couple
another short one around off, Nawaz pulls it without any power, a tennis shot more than a cricket one, but gets it to the vacant midwicket region for two
short one on off, looks for the pull but can't make contact. The ball takes the body and rolls over into the off side. There was an inside edge, actually.
Pakistan need 8 from the last over
short and wide outside off, slapped to deep cover for one
straight down deep cover's throat! Another full and wide delivery from Sarkar, Rizwan had to really reach out to make contact, doesn't get all of it and ends up offering a simple catch to deep cover
full and wide outside off, Rizwan skips down the wicket and watches it into the keeper's gloves. It's called wide
wide on the crease and full outside off, Rizwan is unable to get bat on it and it's another dot ball
full outside off, Rizwan looks to pick him off leg side but misses
slower ball on off, Rizwan shuffles a little and places it into the vacant midwicket area and they come through for another couple
length outside off, goes down on one knee and scoops it over the short fine-leg and a misfield on the rope allows two
full toss on middle, makes a little room and flicks it towards deep midwicket for one
full on middle, flicked to mid-on's right, the fielder puts in a dive but fumbles as they come through for two
short on middle, Rizwan pulls along the ground towards deep midwicket and that's good for another couple
yorker on middle, squeezed out to long-on for one
slower ball outside off, slapped to deep cover for one
full outside off, he skips down the wicket and lofts it flat and hard over mid-off
short one on middle, pulled away along the ground towards deep midwicket, and since it's the long boundary, they are able to come back for the second with ease
short one on middle, helps it along to fine-leg's left for one
