Andhra were in a commanding position at stumps on the second day of
their match against Goa at Vizag today. After dismissing Goa for 213,
Andhra were 217 for four at close. Opener LNP Reddy (51) and Nagini
Kumar (32) added 78 runs for the second wicket off 28.5 overs. This
was followed by a third wicket partnership of 57 runs from 19.1 overs
between Reddy and YV Rao. And finally, Rao and IG Srinivas (13) were
associated in an unbroken stand of 51 runs for the fifth wicket. At
close Rao was batting with 86, compiled off 148 balls with 12 hits to
the ropes.
Earlier Goa who were 188 for nine at close of play on Wednesday, were
all out for 213. R Naik who top scored with 68 was last out after
defying the Andhra attack for almost five hours. He faced 217 balls
and sent four of them to the ropes. For Andhra, opening bowler
Sahabuddin was the most successful bowler taking five for 72 off 34
overs. The other opening bowler Madhukar finished with three for 59.
