all over! Evison seals the contest with a pinpoint yorker! Hurt swings at thin air, back goes his middle stump, and Kent have won their first List A silverware since 1978!
Kent vs Lancashire, Final at Nottingham, RL Cup, Sep 17 2022 - Match Result
6.28pm Back-slaps all round as Kent take the plaudits. They won the toss and chose to back their batters to post a defendable score, and despite losing Ben Compton in the first over, they fulfilled their brief to perfection. Evison's 97, backed up by Denly, Robinson, Blake and the old man Darren Stevens posted a hefty target of 307, and that proved out of Lancashire's reach despite fine fifties from Jennings and Croft. Three wickets apiece for Gilchrist and Stewart, but fittingly, on the day of Stevens' final bow as a Kent player, it's his heir apparent Joey Evison who wraps up the contest with an allround display to remember.
We'll have post-match coverage to come, but for now, thanks for tuning in, catch you later!
too wide outside off, Evison keeping the ball out of the reach of Hurt's long levers
tight to the off-stump, shuffles across the stumps to work to deep square. Only the single...
sticks in the pitch again, a cramped pull to wide long-on, and they rush back to keep their requirement in sight
rolls the fingers, good sticky slower ball outside off, Hurt can't connect on his wind-up
Back comes Evison... the man of the moment
Stewart is labouring now, looks like he's popped a calf maybe. But he'll presumably do the needful if required...
slower ball, cracked off the back foot to deep point. Hurt will keep the strike
very full length, drilled out to deep cover, back for the second, and that's just enough to keep Lancashire in touch
excellent pick-up. Just back of a length, Hurt swings for the hills and connects well, through cow corner
short, swings into a pull to short backward square. Just the single
right up to the toes, pressed back at the bowler
tight line on off stump, tucked to the on-side, and they push for the second, because why not. A poor throw seals the deal
tickled off the legs, another single as the rate climbs again. A fine day's work for Gilchrist
It's now two a ball... Lancashire know there's no real hope now
driven out of the yorker length, Podmore at short third fields
slower ball, loops past the off stump on the full. Hurt was utterly baffled by that one
another yorker, clipped to the on-side
yorker! That was pinpoint, dipping from a good line, right at the base of middle stump, Bailey jams his bat down to no avail. This time, Kent really are one wicket away!
very cheeky stroke, shuffling across the crease to the wide yorker, opening the face and jabbing down to deep third
Tony Torrance: "Difference with the two teams is the catching. Kent must have got an extra 50 runs or so."
big wind-up, reaching outside off, and clubbed to long-on to keep the strike
