A 1-0 lead and Pakistan well placed to follow the series win against Australia with one in South Africa. The hosts will look to put on an improved performance with the bat against spin. It'll all add to the preparations for the Champions Trophy next year. Paarl, as a venue, was great too, offered good conditions and fan engagement. Hope that's the case in Cape Town too. For now, I'm Ekanth, signing off on behalf of Rvel Zahid and M Venkat Raghav.

Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan captain: It was a team game. They attacked us, our spinners squeezed them. We collapsed, but Salman and Ayub played a mature innings. We believe our bowlers and they bowled well. In ODIs, if you're taking wickets after the powerplay, you're good. The way Salman gave away the award to Saim lifts the team.

Aiden Markram, SA captain: We were looking at 270-290, we were 80% with both bat and ball and a few runs short. We will reflect and see how we can be better in Cape Town. Klaasen's knock was good, openers started well. The fight comes with the SA culture, nice to see the guys show it. Proud of the character too.

Saim says they were four down and you have to keep the belief and calm. He is more experienced and his company helped a lot.

Salman Agha, POTM - and he says he wants to give it away to Saim Ayub, both of them take a picture together. We just wanted to take the game as deep as possible and get the boundary when available. His knock set up the game, if he didn't play we wouldn't have won. We were behind but he scored 100 and it was an amazing feat, hence he deserves the award.

Fahim : "Today's summary: 2 SA's beat SA... Saim Ayub, Salman Agha and South Africa "

Hamza: "Hats off to agha and saim, but should not forget abrar who went economical in his last 5 overs conceded only 8 runs."

9:45pm: A really good game. Pakistan were on the ropes in a few situations but managed to get back. The fifth-wicket stand - like in the first innings - was crucial. Ayub started slow but went on alongside Salman, who almost certainly will be POTM. The running had been on and off. But it was entertaining too. For SA, Rabada was excellent, Baartman took a couple of key wickets and Shamsi showed control. Baartman's 22-run over later in the piece allowed Pakistan to flourish. Lot of activity towards the end, engaging match.

Jansen to Salman, FOUR runs

Yorker missed by a bit and it's driven downtown. No stopping that and the hands go up. A few fans cheer along

49.2
Jansen to Salman, no run

Run out missed! Naseem was out, halfway down, point threw at the bowler's end but it wasn't picked up. No direct hit.

49.1
Jansen to Salman, no run

Salman makes room and Jansen goes wide yorker. Made too much room and went out of access despite throwing himself at it

Ring field in, hit the outfield and this will be over

Baartman to Salman, 1 run

Pulls the shortish ball to fine leg. Just two needed now

Mid-on, mid-off in. Actually mid-on goes back

1
Baartman to Naseem Shah, 1 run

Quick singllle... Driven past the bowler, stopped in the infield but the batters hared through

Both batters trying to figure out how many balls remaining. Naseem thinks two, Salman two

48.4
1
Baartman to Salman, 1 run

Good yorker from wide of the crease, at the stumps, but Salman manages to jam it to short fine leg. Fourth-stump line, off the inside edge as he went for the flick

48.3
1
Baartman to Naseem Shah, 1 run

Back of length, fifth stump, guided to deep third

48.2
1
Baartman to Salman, 1 run

Two's the call right away but not on, timing was good and it went quickly to Jansen at long-on. Was a slot ball that was on-driven but with power and full follow-through

Set batter now on

1
Baartman to Naseem Shah, 1 run

Just 8 needed off 12. Naseem on strike vs Baartman

Short, looks to ramp, can't get it. Not a wide

4
Jansen to Salman, FOUR runs

Is that four? Yes, deep third dives to the left but can't stop it! Was a length ball angling away through fifth, Salman tried to cut hard. Got a thinnish edge which went through where first slip would be

47.4
1
Jansen to Naseem Shah, 1 run

Fended, balloons to the left of catching point but lands safely and goes to deep third. Back of length, at the body, Naseem was in the crease and tried to push it straight without eye contact

47.3
1
Jansen to Salman, 1 run

Down leg, full, clipped to deep-backward square leg. Salman wanted two, he's yelling, but Naseem stopped fully. It would've been tight

47.2
1
Jansen to Naseem Shah, 1 run

Length on off, steered to deep third. Salman wanted two but Naseem says 'the bowler came in the middle'. But having the specialist on strike isn't bad

47.1
Jansen to Naseem Shah, no run

Naseem wanted to stab that, probably off side. But gets hit on the leg

Shamsi to Naseem Shah, no run

Takes the back foot outside off and looks to jam it through third. No contact

Shamsi to Salman, 4 wide

Appeall for lbw but that looked down leg. Was a fullish length ball that was glanced. Long chase for Rabada at deep fine leg. Actually a wide

46.3
Shamsi to Salman, no run

Looks to go funky, can't connect. Ball pops into ground

46.2
6
Shamsi to Salman, SIX runs

Asking rate now under six because Salman has danced down and boshed it straight back

46.1
Shamsi to Salman, no run

Wide, floated and full, looks to whack a drive through cover but the angle takes it far
