that will be that! West Indies win this game comfortably and they take this series against Ireland 1-0! Full on leg stump. LIam backs away and drills it towards deep point. A routine single to end the game, and West Indies, having won by 62 runs, were full value for this victory!
Ireland vs West Indies, 3rd T20I at Bready, IRE vs WI, Jun 15 2025 - Ball by Ball Commentary
6:49pm That will be all from us for this game. We hope you enjoyed our coverage and we have a lot more cricket lined up for you in the next few days, and we would love your company for that too. Until next time, from Ranjith and myself (Shashwat), it is goodbye!
Evin Lewis, Player of the Match: It was unfortunate we did not play (the first two games). Felt pretty good (out there). Wanted to see what the wicket was doing and then step up a bit. (On what this innings means) Means a lot - I wanted to do well. Still grateful and thankful. Pretty easy to bat with him (Hope). He tries to get the game off to a good start, similar to me and I am grateful to bat with him.
Shai Hope, West Indies captain: It means a lot. Really trying to build a strong team. Just trying to continue that (of being placed high in the rankings), trying to be as consistent as possible and win as many games as possible. That was a tough series (against England) - nice to take something back to the Caribbean. If you get in, it is difficult to stop you, so whenever you get a start, try and capitalize and go as big as you can. He (Lewis) is a quality striker and when he is going, he is hard to stop. Hopefully he can continue that run-scoring and hopefully he can get a good start against Australia (when those matches arrive). (On how he intends to prepare for the Test series against Australia) Not quite sure - have not played in a little while. Want to wish Roston all the best (as captain).
Paul Stirling, Ireland captain: Couple of positives in there, tough day overall. Special mention to Humphreys - one of the best spells in context in T20 cricket for us. He bowled both ends, had the wind against him, had left-handers in - it was incredible. It was tough bowling from both ends for the other lads. The message was to give it everything we had. We did not have an opportunity to go outdoors (due to the weather). We gave it our best shot but we fell short in all three facets. We got domestic cricket here for the next four games and we will probably chat about that, on where we can improve and be in a better space (when we face England)
6:34pm A fairly one-sided contest in the end. Stirling threatened at the start but did not last long enough to give West Indies any real headaches. Ross Adair and Harry Tector played longer hands but with the required rate soaring, neither could muster the requisite number of big hits to put the visitors under any sort of sustained pressure.
Many more positives from a West Indian POV. Hosein was the pick of the bunch and picked up three wickets, while giving away only 27 runs in his four overs. Shepherd and Motie were not shabby either, with Holder also among the wickets. Joseph could not dent the Irish batting unit, but at times, showed the pace that makes him a dangerous weapon for WI across conditions. A fairly good day at the office, and they will be pleased to be heading home with a series win, having been blanked by England earlier in the month.
nearly! Zips in a yorker and this just shaves leg side. Liam, rather ambitiously, was shaping for an inside-out cover drive and unsurprisingly, failed to make contact
edged and four! Shortish just outside leg. Liam backs away like he has done to almost every ball Joseph has bowled to him. Throws his hands at it and the ball flies away past the keeper!
haul that back from the grass bank, says Liam McCarthy! Seems like he has had enough of the ducking and swaying, and Joseph makes the batter's task easier by sticking to that same plan. Liam lines it up early this time and smears it over deep backward square leg!
Joseph, if he wanted a wicket, could go at the stumps
this is another sharp bumper and Liam does well to actually duck under it and not commit to a stroke. Still a dot ball, though
shortish just outside leg. Liam gives himself room and then swipes across the line, only to sense the ball whistle past his flailing blade
Joseph to bowl the last over of the game
back to back sixes, and this is even better! Another slot ball laced with width. Mark, sitting deep in his crease, gets his hands through the ball and blasts it over extra cover!
bang! That is some shot! Holder misses the wide yorker on the shorter side and pays the price. Allows Mark to free his arms and he skims it flat over the deep cover fence!
zipped in very full on leg stump. Mark plays all around it and gets rapped on the pads. Going well down leg, though
low full toss on off. Liam plonks it towards mid off and scurries across to the other end
shortish just outside off. Liam backs away and swishes at it with all he has. Only manages to swat away a few flies, though
Around the wicket
fullish outside off. Mark reaches out for it and drags it towards long on
low full toss just outside off. Mark works it towards deep mid wicket
hard length on middle and leg. Liam fends it into the off side and hurtles across for another quick single
slashed away into the open spaces on the off side for another single
has Mark been run out?! Short ball that gets up to near the armpit. Liam drops it into the off side and calls his partner through. Mark scampers across and makes it, despite Hosein's excitement after hitting the stumps. Mark grounded his right foot and then leapt up to avoid the throw, which is when the stumps were shattered. Under the old role, Mark would have been out. But under the current rules, once that foot was grounded, Mark was safe
shortish again, on leg stump. Liam swings for the hills, but his bat and the ball end up in different postcodes
another sharp bumper that also follows Liam outside leg. He has to take evasive action and does so just in time
Joseph returns too
full just outside off. Liam gives himself room and drives it towards sweeper cover to keep strike
banged into the track on leg stump. Liam picks it a touch late and ducks out of the way rather hurriedly in the end
