Scorecard summary
Thailand Women 78/9(20 overs)
West Indies Women 80/3(16.4 overs)

West Indies win by seven wickets after an early wobble in the chase where Thailand fielded superbly. It was a plucky display by the World Cup debutants, especially with the ball and in the field. West Indies will need to improve at the top of the order to go deep into the tournament, but they are off the mark and did what they needed to.

As is traditional for them, Thailand now bow to the crowd. Plenty of smiles on their faces despite defeat, and why not.

Player of the Match is Stafanie Taylor. "I felt in the bowling I felt good, but with the batting felt I couldn't get the ball off the square. Had to make sure I got the team over the line. We had to take the time to get used to the pitch and seeing as we haven't had much time in the middle because of the rain. I keeping tell the coach you have to give me less bowlers...sometimes you think you have to bowl everyone!."

Sornnarin Tippoch "We are happy, think we played well. We wanted a score around 120. We will try to get more than 100. The fast bowlers bowled short and it's something we must learn. We need to work on areas to get the runs. It's not our day today, it's something to work on. Our strength is as a bowling and fielding side. We will try out best every day. Enjoyed it too much! We were were waiting for this for a long time. So happy. I'm proud of our team. We will get better." Lovely interview...

Taylor again..."For them it's very special, once they keep playing they will get better. The way they are playing they might cause an upset. It's really nice to everyone back and enjoy. I thought the bowlers did really well. It's really good to see. We always look at dot-ball percentage, it's a big factor for us. It's definitely something we have to work, think we could have done a lot better with that. We need to be tough on ourselves."

I'll wrap things up there for this match. Our coverage of New Zealand v Sri Lanka will start shortly so head over for that. For now, from Gnasher and Vishal, it's goodbye and thanks for joining us.
