that's it, short ball, pulled away for four, and SL join Zimbabwe in the final. Well done, both of them, and India, as a reader said, are Out of Africa. Well not quite, they have to wait for this to finish and then play two T20s against Zimbabwe, regarding which Praveen Kumar writes in, "T20 should be interesting battle between India and Zimbabwe. Who knows INDIA can shock them with a win afterall its a T20.."
India vs Sri Lanka, 5th Match at Harare, Jun 05 2010 - Match Result
That's all from us. Okay bye
Presentation
Dinesh Chandimal is the MoM He says, "I am very happy with my batting performance. Good pitch, and I played my normal game."
Tillakaratne Dilshan "I said in the morning, we want to finish it off today. our players did really well. We kept the pressure up through the fielding, keeping the fielders up. I told the players we needed to improve the fielding, and they did a really good job in the field, stopping goo shots, taking difficult catches. Really happy with Cahndimal's batting, playing so well in his second game."
Suresh Raina "I am not happy at all. Al the credit goes to Sri Lanka, they batted really well, especially Dinesh. We didn't bowl well, especially with the new ball. Ashwin bowled well, and he batted well too. We haven't been good throughout the tournament."
So Sri Lanka knock India out of a multi-nation tournament. Oh well. Not surprising, they are used to doing it. It was a professional performance from Sri Lanka, superb in the field, smart with the ball, and Chandimal was special with the bat. India, at the reverse end of momentum, forgot basics like crossing over when holing out in the deep, like attacking the batsmen when defending an average total, and paid the due price. Also news coming in the India have slipped to No. 3 in ICC ODI rankings. Hang on for the presentation
length ball, worked away into the leg side, they run two but it is called one short
makes room and drives, but can't beat extra cover
full ball, hit to midwicket straight
short, over the stumps, makes room and upper-cuts it over point, within one hit of the final
offcutter, worked away off the pads for one
back of a length, hit straight to midwicket
slower ball, worked into the on side for one
No free-hit for height no-balls, remember
high full toss, edged away to third man - called no-ball for height
Pankaj Singh comes back
another drive square of the wicket, this time the point fielder gets a hand to it
yorker, on leg stump, works it into the on side for one
looks for the shot over short fine again, gets a slower ball, which he works much squarer for one
lovely shot, anticipates a yorker, makes room, gets an overpitched delivery, and drives it square, over point and square of third man
looking to scoop it, but it is too wide of off, looks to open the face on it but hits straight to point
charges at him even before he bowls, Dinda bowls short, and he pulls it for one
Dinda comes on now. Both mid-on and mid-off up in the circle
length ball on the pads, worked past midwicket
fired across him, he opens the face of the bat but but the ball goes straight to short third
round the wicket to the lefty
they steal a single to short third despite a direct hit from Ashwin
fine leg goes back now and Jadeja goes over the wicket
shot! goes across on a knee, and sweeps this quick delivery over short fine leg
mis-hit as he is hurried into this as he jumps down the track, and it falls just short of a charging-in Vijay from long-off
