29-Jun-2009
1. West Indies seized the advantage in the first two overs of the match, capturing three wickets to rattle the Indian top order. Dinesh Karthik fell to Jerome Taylor, and Ravi Rampaul dismissed Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma in a space of three balls to leave India reeling.
2. Yuvraj Singh had raced to 35 off 32 balls and was looking dangerous when, in the 13th over, Taylor got him to nick one to the keeper while attempting the square cut. India's in-form batsman had been dismissed, and the team was in further trouble.
3. MS Dhoni and RP Singh rescued India with a determined 101-run stand for the ninth wicket and gave the team's score a semblance of respectability, though it still proved inadequate.
4. Chris Gayle and Runako Morton ensured there would be no hiccups in the run chase, adding 101 for the opening wicket to seal India's fate.
5. Gayle made a typical quickfire 64, but Morton's calm presence at the crease was important to see West Indies through. He made an unbeaten 85 and shepherded the run chase superbly to help his team level the series.
