Petah Tikva and Ashdod A extended their excellent start to the season, defeating Eilat and Young Sri Lanka over the weekend in Division 2 Group A, whilst Lions Be'er Sheva secured top spot in Group B, scoring their third straight win, defeating Lod by 7 wickets in Lod on Saturday, successfully chasing down their 210-run target in 38 overs, led by 75* from opener Ronen Waskar.
Petah Tikva made the long journey down to Eilat on Saturday even that more enjoyable, returning home with a 28-run win, dismissing the hosts for 195 having posted 223 earlier in the day, in a game played in sapping heat, touching 40 degrees. Ashdod meanwhile defeated Young Sri Lanka by the narrowest of margins, restricting their visitors to 174 for nine having earlier scored 175. In the weekends' other fixture, Tel Aviv slumped to their fourth straight defeat of the season, Kiryat Gat winning by four wickets at Hadar Yosef on Friday.
It's been a stop-start start to the Division 1 season with numerous games postponed for various reasons, but Lions Lod do have the early lead at the top of the standings, following up their impressive first round win over Ra'anana with a 75-run victory over Sri Lanka Jerusalem. Sri Lanka Tel Aviv are also showing good early form, handing Ra'anana their second consecutive defeat.
