South Australia's season has continued to go downhill with the news that Cameron Borgas will miss the rest of 2006-07 with a shoulder injury. Borgas will have a shoulder reconstruction in the next two weeks after sustaining the problem while diving in the field during a one-day game against Victoria on December 23.
Borgas, 23, the top-order batsman who has been touted as a possible successor to Darren Lehmann as the Redbacks' captain, will have four to six months of rehabilitation and is aiming to be fit for the 2007-08 season.
South Australia will miss Borgas from their already inexperienced batting line-up, although he has struggled for form and averaged only 22.30 from his five Pura Cup games before Christmas. The Redbacks are on the bottom of the Pura Cup and Ford Ranger Cup tables.
