At Karachi, June 29, 2008 (day/night). Sri Lanka won by 64 runs. Sri Lanka 2 pts. Toss: Pakistan. One-day international debut: Mansoor Amjad.
Kumar Sangakkara's ninth century in one-day internationals (the tenth followed next day) set up a comfortable victory for Sri Lanka. Digging in after the early loss of Jayasuriya, Sangakkara batted through to the 47th over, hitting ten fours and a six, doing enough to ensure a total of more than 300 despite Sohail Tanvir's maiden five-for. Salman Butt fell to the first ball of the reply, and although Misbah-ul-Haq hit four defiant sixes Pakistan were well out of touch by the time he became the fourth victim of Mendis's mixtures.
Man of the Match: K. C. Sangakkara.
