Bangladesh v England

At Chittagong, November 7, 2003

15-Apr-2004
At Chittagong, November 7, 2003. England won by seven wickets. Toss: Bangladesh. One-day international debuts: Jamaluddin Ahmed, Manjurul Islam Rana, Nafis Iqbal.
After missing the Tests with a groin injury, Flintoff marked his return with an irresistible all-round display, taking a career-best four for 14 from 9.4 splice-hitting overs, before belting 55 not out from just 52 deliveries. His contribution ensured that a comfortable victory turned into a rout, and at the post-match presentations Bangladesh's captain, Khaled Mahmud, was booed by home fans. The victory had never been in doubt after an extraordinary 14-ball spell midway through Bangladesh's innings. After easing to 65 for two, they lost five wickets for one run, three of them to a rejuvenated Giles. By reverting to Test-match tactics, the tail did well to grind along to 143, although they were helped by 29 extras. England in reply shed three careless wickets, but Flintoff and Collingwood sealed the match with almost 25 overs to spare.
Man of the Match: A. Flintoff.
