Barry Richards resigns at Queensland
BARRY RICHARDS, the former South African Test player, resigned as
chief executive of Queensland Cricket yesterday, writes Richard
Bright.
Richards blamed family reasons for his decision to move from
Brisbane to Perth after a busy spell at Queensland, during which
he introduced the Bulls logo for the team and other marketing
strategies. The other five Australian states have subsequently
followed their lead.
Richards said he had not had any contact with the Western Australian Cricket Association, who several years ago were said to
be courting him, and did not give any clues as to his new career
direction.
