Warwickshire coach Mark Robinson believes the county have pulled off "an amazing signing" by recruiting Glenn Maxwell as their second overseas player for the T20 Blast.
The club finished top of the North Group in 2022, playing in ultra-attacking style with the bat which saw them post a then-record English domestic T20 total of 261 for 2 against Nottinghamshire.
But they were beaten convincingly by eventual champions Hampshire in the quarter-finals, and have invested heavily in their squad over the winter in a bid to reach Finals Day for the first time since 2017.
Moeen Ali, Ed Barnard and Chris Rushworth have all joined the club over the winter, while Hasan Ali has been recruited as an all-format overseas signing for the first half of the season.
And Maxwell's addition for the majority of the Blast's group stages, following his involvement in the IPL with Royal Challengers Bangalore, is another statement of Warwickshire's intent.
"He's the perfect T20 batter for us," Robinson said. "He's a power hitter with a fantastic range of shots which makes it hard for opposing sides to set fields, plus he's an outstanding fielder. I can't wait to welcome Glenn into the fold.
"I'm also delighted for our fans. We've now got a really exciting Blast squad that I'm sure will provide great entertainment and help us achieve our goal of again getting to Blast Finals Day here at Edgbaston."
Warwickshire will become Maxwell's fifth county, after previous stints with Hampshire, Surrey, Yorkshire and, most recently, Lancashire. He is also expected to be retained by London Spirit in the Hundred, which starts two-and-a-half weeks after the end of the Blast.
"I can't wait to get stuck into a new challenge with the Bears," Maxwell said. "Edgbaston is a great place to play cricket with extremely passionate fans and I'm looking forward to joining an exciting list of players."
