The Gosnells cricket club is very pleased to announce the new captain and coach for the coming 2000/2001 season.
Duncan Spencer is the new captain having held the position in 1996/97 and 1997/98.
Craig Hill is the new coach; he replaces the outgoing coach Dougie Frame.
Craig is 26 years old and brings a youthful exuberance to the club. He hails from Midland/Guildford where played in excess of 50 1st grade games and also played in a winning grand final side. He also represented Western Australia at under-19 level. He holds a bachelor's degree in Physical education with an associated diploma in education. He is also a qualified gym instructor.
Craig hasn't coached at senior WACA level before, but he has many new and interesting ideas and is very enthusiastic about the clubs prospects for this year.
To support him Duncan Spencer will also act as the club's skills coach and Rick Vredenbregt will again be on hand to assist with the fitness duties.
This multi-layered coaching structure aims to utilize people in the specific areas of skills, organization and fitness. This is a slightly radical set up consistent with a lot of top level sporting teams these days.
And to supervise the overall structure of the club will be the newly appointed Director of cricket Russ Ledain. Despite only being in the role just over 2 months Russ has taken up where outgoing director Dave Bishop has left off and worked tirelessly to aim the club in the right direction on and off the field.
With the support of his board of directors and all associated with the club through to the players the club hopes to make big strides in improvement over the next couple of years. Pre-season training is under way at the WACA indoor nets, for more details if you're interested in supporting or playing for the club just e-mail Russ Ledain on penguin2@iinet.net.au
