Both Hampshire and Derbyshire are clutching at straws when they meet in the PPP healthcare County Championship match at Southampton on Wednesday to Saturday. Both teams are still clinging to the fading hope that they will avoid the drop into Division Two, although regardless of which side wins this match, their fate lies with the results of other games around the country.
Peter Hartley faces a late fitness test, but apart from this Hampshire retain the team that defeated Durham at Riverside last Sunday.
Dominic Cork is missing from the Derby side, he is resting after the efforts of the test match, in preparation for this winters tour.
This is Hampshire's penultimate first-class match at the County Ground, as they prepare for their move to new headquarters next season.
