Hayden to stay on for one-dayers

CHENNAI, India - The Australian Cricket Board has decided Matthew Hayden will stay in India to play the one-day series, expanding Australia's squad to 15 for the five limited-overs matches.

The decision seemed inevitable but was confirmed only after Australian selection chairman Trevor Hohns talked to Steve Waugh about it this morning.

The fact Hayden was in form, acclimatised to the conditions and enjoying himself in India was the main reason it was decided to keep him on.

The question now becomes who will make way for Hayden in the one-day team as the fact he's been retained means he's certain to play.

As an opening batsmen it would seem sensible for him to go in for either Mark Waugh or Adam Gilchrist at the top of the order but that would mean breaking up a proven partnership.

Or he could bat at No.3 where Ricky Ponting has been the stock choice for some time but is currently in dreadful form.

Meanwhile, Nathan Bracken arrived here last night after missing his original flight because he forgot his passport.

And Andrew Symonds, cleared of a shoulder injury, was scheduled to arrive in Mumbai tonight.
