At Indore, December 1. West Indies won by eight wickets. India, electing to bat first, lost three wickets during the brief time that there was bounce and movement in the pitch. Their innings was then stabilised by a partnership of 84 in seventeen overs by Amarnath and Malhotra, and thanks to Kapil Dev and Shastri the recovery was sustained. West Indies were put on course by an opening partnership of 149 by Greenidge and Haynes, and Richards and Lloyd were sufficiently in command to ensure that there was no scramble at the end.
