Friendly Kotla pitch for first Test: Chauhan
The vice-president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), Chetan Chauhan said in Delhi on Thursday that a friendly Ferozshah Kotla pitch awaits India and Zimbabwe during their first Test slated to be played from November 18 to 22.
Speaking to PTI, Chauhan said ``We have prepared a friendly pitch to give equal chance to all. It will play good on the first three days and then help the spin bowlers.'' He said that though the DDCA does not expect large crowds considering it is a five-day match, both police and private security have been pressed into service.
Chauhan appealed to the spectators not to carry any mobile phones and food boxes while entering the stadium. ``Security personnel have been briefed to prevent such items from being carried in,'' he said.
Chauhan added that the hosts have taken all care in preparing an 'international class' pitch after criticism last time around that the track was underprepared. India had won the last Test match played on the ground against Pakistan when leg-spinner Anil Kumble made history by taking 10 wickets in the second innings.
