Danny Hotz will captain the Israel cricket team at the 2003 European Cricket Council U15 2nd Division Championships, which will be played in Saint Astier, France.
The team, which was announced yesterday, is filled with talented and ambitious young players. Six of the squad - Hotz, vice captain Oren Chinchulkar, Bar Ilya, Eyal Matz, Michael Muchie, and Ronen Waskar, were members of the 2001 squad that won the silver medal at the last U15 tournament in Berlin, whilst no fewer than seven players - Raz Ben-Zaken, Shai Chayun, Ilya, Matz, Savania Naguakar, Alex Ozer and Waskar - played in last years team that won the gold medal at the U13 Championships.
The team has been grouped along with France, Greece and Italy in Group A. Group B consists of teams from Belgium, Germany, Gibraltar and Spain. Israel plays its first game on Sunday morning, August 10, against France. The tournament concludes on Friday August 15.
