Justin Langer has undergone a precautionary X-ray after being struck on
the head by the ball while fielding on the third day of the third Test
against Pakistan in Sharjah on Monday.
The X-ray did not reveal anything of concern but the player is suffering
from concussion and as such is unlikely to return to the field in the
immediate future.
He returned to the ground following the X-ray and his condition will be
assessed on an ongoing basis.
Langer took the blow while fielding at short leg during the morning
session when Pakistan batsman Hassan Raza clipped a delivery from Shane
Warne off his pads.
The fielder turned his head and the ball impacted on the back right of
his skull, just below the line of the helmet he was wearing.
Langer was treated on the field by physiotherapist Stephen Partridge
before departing for a local hospital for further assessment of the
injury, including the X-ray.
