David East, the Essex cheif executive, said: "We are delighted to announce that Danish Kaneria has signed a one-year agreement to re-join Essex in 2007, subject to the approval of the Pakistan Cricket Board. His availability looks very good for next year - judging by the way Pakistan's fixtures seem to be panning out - and we will be delighted to have him back.
"Danish is a world-class cricketer, there is no doubt about it, and the advantage of having him in your side is that he can have success on any wicket - as he has proved all around the world. It gives us an enormous advantage to have him in our side.
Kaneria has taken 95 first-class wickets in 18 matches for Essex at an average of 28.18 along with 156 wickets at 31.50 in 36 Test matches.
