Lowest first class score recorded in Pakistan cricket

KARACHI, Nov 17 (AFP) - Regional side National Bank of Pakistan were dismissed for 20 here Tuesday, setting a record low for first class cricket in the country.

Nadeem Iqbal of Pakistan Customs took a hat trick during his devastating spell of six wickets for nine runs.

The previous lowest first class innings in Pakistan was 27 made by Dera Ismail Khan against Pakistan Railways in 1964-65.

The world record low in first class cricket is 12 by Oxford University against MCC "A" in 1877 and Northamptonshire against Gloucestershire in 1907.

NBP were bundled out in 18.3 overs. Extras were the top scorer with four. Four NBP batsmen were dismissed for zero. Skipper Sajid Ali put up most resistance, lasting 28 balls for his innings of three.

By tea Pakistan Customs were comfortably placed at 110-0.

"I am proud of my team and feel delighted at being part of history again," said Customs coach Jalaluddin, who recorded the first one-day hat trick against Australia in 1982-83.

The 27-year-old Iqbal who made his first class debut in 1995, had Saeed Azad, Shahid Anwer - who have both played one-day internationals for Pakistan - and Tahir Shah on successive deliveries in his seventh over.

"The wicket was wet and that was why we were dismissed for such a low total," said an angry Azad. But the match umpires and referee turned down the complaints.
