Marcus Trescothick may have won himself a Test Match place following his
outstanding achievements for England in the NatWest Series.
Duncan Fletcher, the England coach, has expressed pleasure at the manner in
which Trescothick impressed in his first international series which culminated in him winning the Man-of-the-Match award in the ten-wicket victory over West Indies at Chester-le-Street.
The left-hander had been selected initially as cover for the injured Nasser Hussain and Nick Knight and had performed sufficiently to be retained in the side throughout the tournament to date. His name is expected to be in the England party for the third Test Match against West Indies at Manchester on Thursday 3rd August. Fletcher confided: ``I'd don't think I would be talking out of turn to say he would stand a good chance of selection, and it's the way he's done it as well."
