Australia's cricketers are now well and truly Weet-Bix cricketers after the signing of a three-year sponsorship agreement between the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) and Sanitarium, the manufacturer of the country's leading breakfast cereal Weet-Bix.
© Darren England/ALLSPORT The three year arrangement makes Sanitarium the Official Supplier of Dried Breakfast, Breakfast Cereal and Portable Breakfast Bar products.
It also allows Weet-Bix to use the descriptive "Official Breakfast of the World Champions".
And Weet-Bix is also involved in Super Challenge 2000, the forthcoming one-day international series between Australia and South Africa at Colonial Stadium, Melbourne as a sales promotion partner.
Weet-Bix will be conducting a number of interactive promotions involving the crowd during the series, offering the chance to win great prizes to those in attendance.
Commenting on the agreement, ACB Chief Executive Malcolm Speed said: "The ACB is delighted to be associated with Sanitarium.
"The company is a recognized market leader, producing Australia's number one selling breakfast cereal Weet-Bix, so an association with the Australian cricket team, which is currently World Champions, is a completely natural one.
"It is also very pleasing that cricket continues to welcome new sponsors to the game and we hope our partnership with Sanitarium is a long and fruitful one."
Founded in 1898, Sanitarium is wholly Australian owned and Weet-Bix has been the number one selling breakfast cereal in Australia for 32 years in a market category worth more than $700 million per annum.
"Sanitarium Weet-Bix is extremely excited about this association and is proud to be officially involved with the World Champions. We see this as a long term partnership which will allow us to promote the tremendous values of both cricket and Weet-Bix to our consumers," said Sanitarium's National Sales and Marketing Manager, John Davey.
Weet Bix is committed to promoting cricket to its consumers, which are mostly children and families.
Matches in Super Challenge 2000 are due to be played on 16, 18 & 20 August. The first two games in the series are day-night, starting at 2.30 pm and the final match is a day game starting at 10 am.
Tickets are still available through Ticketmaster on 13 12 77.
