Haryana won their Under-14 match against Himachal Pradesh by a
handsome margin of 267 runs in their North Zone league encounter on
wednesday at the Indira stadium in Una. Haryana gained eight points in
the process.
Day One began with Haryana opting to bat after winning the toss. They
completed their first innings at 247 in 111.2 overs with opener and
wicket keeper Kailash Nath being the top scorer with 42 runs. Manan
Deep was the chief destructor for Himachal having scalped 6 wickets
for 64 runs. Himachal Pradesh in their first innings were all out for
102 in 67.3 overs as Nitin Mehtani wrecked havoc by returning figures
of 5 for 21. Opener Aditya Choudhary was the lone shining light having
scored 48 runs with extras (19) being the next best.
The second innings of Haryana was well paced with Deepak Sani (71) and
Prem Patrik (50 not out) taking the score to 206 for 5 declared in 39
overs. It was Nitin Mehtani's turn once again to claim 5 for 22
thereby reducing Himachal to 84 in 78.4 overs.
