The England & Wales Cricket Board today confirmed that Cheltenham & Gloucester will not be renewing their sponsorship of the 50-over domestic one day competition after 2006.
C&G have been sponsors since 2001 but have decided to look at other avenues, which are more in-line with its current marketing objectives, after this season's competition, which culminates in the traditional Lord's final on August 26.
Ian Whittaker, C&G's head of marketing, said, "We've had a fantastic relationship with the ECB over the years and the partnership has been a great success. We hope the last C&G Trophy, which takes place in 2006, will be one to remember and we wish the ECB and any future partner all the best."
ECB chairman David Morgan said: "It is disappointing to lose a sponsor of the calibre of C&G as we have enjoyed a most successful partnership. We thank them for all their support during the last five years and are grateful for their input into a competition which is the breeding ground of World Cup cricketers of the future."
