Following their deeply disappointing performance in the first Test, Pakistan have gone out to 10/1 to win the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.
If Pakistan are going to get back into the series, it will require a major contribution from at least one of their batsmen. But who is the likely candidate? In the Top Team Batsman market, bet365 make Inzamam-ul-Haq and Yousuf Youhana joint 7/2 favourites, followed by Younis Khan (4/1) and Salman Butt (5/1). Shoaib Malik at 7/1 is certainly worth considering.
For Australia, Justin Langer's rich vein of recent form has not been sufficient to make him the likely leading first-innings batsman for Australia. The favourite tag remains with Ricky Ponting - 7/2 - while the openers Langer and Matthew Hayden are 4/1. Damien Martyn - who has made three hundreds in his last six Tests - is 5/1.
The Man of the Match betting is dominated by Australians, who occupy the first six places in this market. Shane Warne is 7/1 favourite on his home ground, followed by Ponting at 8/1. The top Pakistan players are Shoaib Akthar and Inzamam-ul-Haq at 12/1. Punters looking for an outsider in this market could do well to consider Darren Lehmann or Younis Khan - both players are 16/1.
bet365 will be betting in-running on Australia v Pakistan.
