Three matches were played in fine conditions on Monday, 2nd January 2006.
Phil DeFreitas demonstrated his class with the bat as he smashed an unbeaten century for Scorpions against Optimists in a derby match played at Hong Kong Cricket Club. Batting first, Scorpions racked up a score of 303-5 from their 50 overs with DeFreitas scoring 157 not out and Martin Lever 88 not out. In reply, Optimists were dismissed for 194 from 48 overs, with Ryan Eagleson claiming the impressive figures of 13-6-19-3 to secure victory by 109 runs.
Azhar Illahi also posted three figures as LSW beat Infidels by seven wickets at Kowloon Cricket Club. Manoj Cheruparambil and Anthony Barnet both hit half centuries as Infidels were dismissed for 236 off the final ball of the 50th over. Munir Dar was the chief destroyer for LSW, claiming four wickets. Azhar Illahi lead the LSW reply with an unbeaten 113 as LSW reached their victory target in the 40th over for the loss of only three wickets.
At Mission Road, a shaky performance from Pakistan Association was enough to ensure there was no repeat of their shock loss to Pakistan Association Green earlier in the season. Batting first, Pakistan Association Green were dismissed for 180 in the 45th over, with Ankur Sharma top scoring with 74 while Inderjeet and Tauseef Bukhari claimed three wickets apiece. Thanks to an unbeaten 60 from Iftikhar Ahmed, Pakistan Association reached their victory target in the 40th over for the loss of six wickets.
