Ryan Sidebottom has scooped the prestigious NBC Denis Compton Award for 1999. Chosen by a distinguished panel of experts he was voted Yorkshire's Most Promising Young Player and follows Chris Silverwood (1996), Paul Hutchison (1997) and Matthew Hoggard (1998).

One player from each County is selected and the names were recently announced
at the annual "Johnners" Club Dinner at Lord's. It is interesting to note that all of the Yorkshire awards have gone to fast bowlers!
