Mohammad Kaif had twice the reasons to celebrate, leading Chhattisgarh to a debut win and getting to 10,000 first-class runs  •  Dainik Dabang Dunia, Indore

1968-69 The last time a team making its Ranji Trophy debut won their first match. Then it was Punjab. Now, Chhattisgarh beat Tripura in their first ever Ranji Trophy match, comfortably, by nine wickets in Ranchi. Since 1968-69, the teams that have debuted in the Ranji Trophy are Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Goa and Jharkhand.
9/56 The previous best figures for Dhawal Kulkarni in his first-class career. He took 10 for 78 against Tamil Nadu in Rohtak to register his first ten-wicket haul in 71 first-class matches. Ashutosh was the only one among 26 players who debuted in first-class cricket in this round to score 50 or more.
88 The previous highest score for Axar Patel in first-class matches. He bettered that with his maiden century - 109 not out against Baroda. He completed 1000 runs in his first-class career - these runs have come at an average of 54.05. His average is the highest among Gujarat players who have scored more than 1000 first-class runs since his debut.
2 Number of double-centuries by Gujarat batsmen since Manpreet Juneja made his debut in December 2011 - both by Juneja. He scored unbeaten 201 on his debut and another 201 not out against Baroda in this first round. This was his fifth century for Gujarat, which is second-most by any batsman since his debut; Parthiv Patel has made seven centuries.
46 India players who have scored 10,000 or more runs in their first-class career. Mohammad Kaif became the 46th to reach milestone. In the recent Duleep Trophy, Cheteshwar Pujara was the 45th to get there. Parthiv Patel completed 9000 runs in his first-class career in the match against Baroda.
