The Anandians, coming under the fiery pace of Aman Samsudeen and
Suranga Pinto, and the leg spin of diminuive Chryshantha Peiris were
dismissed for 86, in reply to the Peterite challenging score of 240
in their inter-school ticket encounter which began at Bambalapitiya
yesterday.
St. Peter's on winning the toss and electing to bat, made good
through two productive partnerships. The first was for the second
wicket between Amesh Dissanayake and Mahesh Perera which realised 88
runs and the other a 66 run fifth wicket partnership between Kaushal
Lokuarachchi and Sean Gunesekera. This enabled St. Peter's to make a
purposeful score of 240 runs made off 61 overs and in 250 mts.
Towards which Dissanayake and Perera contributed two fine half
centuries. The successful bowlers for Ananda were the three spinners
Mudantha Pushpakumara (4/72) Thilina Kandambi (3/41) and Kusum
Fernando. (2/58).
Ananda struggled and tottered against the Peterite opening attack of
Aman Samsudeen 3 for 15 and Suranga Pinto 4 for 35 and the left arm
spin of Chryshantha Peiris 3 for 20, to all out for 86 runs off 27
