State Canterbury Wizards retain coach

The board of Canterbury Cricket yesterday reappointed Michael Sharpe to the position of coach of the State Canterbury Wizards.

Sharpe, who has coached the State Canterbury Wizards for the past two years, has accepted a 12-month contract, which will take him through to the end of the 2003/04 season.

There was much interest in the position, with applications received from as far afield as England.

Canterbury Cricket's director of coaching and development, Richard Hayward, said he was pleased with the appointment and hoped the consistency provided through Sharpe's reappointment would produce successful team results.
