Uganda are warming up for the World Cup qualifiers with a 22-player training camp at Lugogo. The team, the champions of East Africa, boast a number of experienced players including Belinda Nakiganda, Christine Aryemo, Franklyn Najumba and Mackenzie Ayato.
Those players will need all of their collective experience if they are to topple the mighty Namibia, who they see as their main obstacle in the quest to qualify for the big event, which takes place in Australia in 2009. Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya are also taking part in the qualifiers which will be held in Nairobi from December 8.
Local coach and former national team player Charles Lwanga is optimistic his side will qualify for the World Cup. "The girls are all positive and they know what is at stake," he told the New Vision website. "They have responded well in training."
