WEST INDIES v PAKISTAN 1976-77

At Albion, Berbice County, March 16

15-Apr-1978
At Albion, Berbice County, March 16. West Indies won by four wickets. The first international match of its type in the West Indies attracted a crowd of nearly 15,000 at a New Zealand sporting complex, 75 miles southeast of Georgetown, the capital of Guyana. The cricket was closely fought, Pakistan recovering after an unsteady start, the West Indies doing the opposite.
Pakistan lost half their wickets for 67 in 27 overs. However, Asif Iqbal, leading the team in the absence of Mushtaq, and Imran revived the innings with good effect. Asif hit one 6 and four 4's, and Pakistan reached 176 for seven in their 45 overs. The West Indies raced to 96 for three in only 18 overs but then tight bowling by Asif Iqbal and Majid put a brake on their scoring.
When Kallicharran and King were out in successive overs and only the tail remained with Lloyd, the West Indies captain restrained his natural game to see his team through to victory with an unbeaten 45. Asif Iqbal's all-round performance and captaincy won him the Man of the Match award.
