Tasmania have retained the fast bowler Adam Griffith, who did not sign in the first round of contract offers, and as expected they have regained Gerard Denton from Victoria. The good news for the Tigers came as they finalised their squad for 2008-09 following the second round of deals.
The two confirmations are a boost for Tasmania after they lost one of their most experienced fast men, Damien Wright, who has signed with Victoria. Denton's decision to head back to Tasmania, where he played until moving to Melbourne in 2003-04, effectively amounts to a direct swap for Wright.
Tasmania have also upgraded Alex Doolan from a rookie deal to a full contract. John Rogers, 21, who has been playing in Canberra and Sydney and made 98 for the ACT Invitational XI against the touring Indians last year, has been handed a rookie contract.
Squad Dane Anderson, George Bailey, Travis Birt, Luke Butterworth, David Dawson, Gerard Denton, Michael Dighton, Mark Divin, Xavier Doherty, Alex Doolan, Chris Duval, Brendan Drew, Brett Geeves, Adam Griffith, Jason Krejza, Rhett Lockyear, Tim MacDonald, Daniel Marsh, Tim Paine, Jeremy Smith.
Rookies James Faulkner, Wade Irvine, Brady Jones, John Rogers, Jonathan Wells.
