Alok Kapali and Abdur Razzaq, the left-arm spinner, have been recalled to the Bangladesh squad for the first three matches of the one-day series against Zimbabwe. One-day regulars Khaled Mahmud and Nazmul Hossain, the medium pacer, were also included in the 14-member squad. The five-match series starts with a day-nighter at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at Dhaka on January 20.
Kapali last appeared for Bangladesh against New Zealand in October last year while Razzaq, who made a promising debut in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, was not picked after his action came under scrutiny. Kapali, who impressed with his wristy style early in his career, recently played for the ICC World XI in the charity game at the MCG for the tsunami relief victims.
Javed Omar, Mohammad Rafique and Talha Jubair were the members of the Test squad who missed out. Faruque Ahmed, the chairman of the selection committee, told The Daily Star: "Rafique was ignored as he was injured. Kapali was considered for his form in the just-concluded Premier League while Razzaq, who is a very good one-day bowler, received the call after his action got cleared."
