Bangladesh have risen to eighth spot in the latest ICC one-day rankings, moving ahead of West Indies, who have sunk to their lowest position. Bangladesh's elevation comes on the back of two series wins - against New Zealand in October and Zimbabwe in December - and West Indies' 2-0 loss to Sri Lanka in the recent one-day series.
West Indies have had a terrible run in one-dayers since August 2008, the period the rankings cover - not winning a series against a Test nation in that time, and they haven't beaten a Test team in an ODI since June 2009. Their performance was also hampered by the strike action by their entire first-choice team for nearly six months starting July 2009.
At the other end of the table, Australia maintained a big lead over their nearest contenders, with their recent 6-1 thumping of England keeping them 12 points ahead of second-placed India. Only one point separates the chasing group, with India (119 points), Sri Lanka (119) and South Africa (118) tussling for second spot.
