Mullally, Tremlett and Vaas all miss trip to Derby

Hampshire go into their final Frizzell Championship Division Two match of the 2003 season against bottom placed Derbyshire on Wednesday without three of their leading seam bowlers. The match will decide which team will hold the ignominious wooden spoon at the close of play on Saturday.

Alan Mullally is still troubled with loose bone in his ankle and Chris Tremlett a hip injury, so both miss out but are expected to be fit for the Sunday clash also at Derby which will seal Hampshire's National League status for 2004 season.

Chaminda Vaas is under agreement between Hampshire and the Sri Lankan Cricket Board not to play him, but he again is available for Sunday.

Hampshire take 12 on the coach North: Jimmy Adams, Derek Kenway, Simon Katich, John Crawley, Nic Pothas, James Hamblin, Lawrence Prittipaul, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Will Kendall, Shaun Udal, James Bruce and James Tomlinson.
