Sri Lanka have called up fast bowler Shaminda Eranga to their squad for two ODIs against Ireland after Thisara Perera failed to get a visa approved in time. Thisara is expected to join up with Sri Lanka in England later in the month ahead of a T20 and five ODIs.

The Sri Lanka party arrived in Dublin on Saturday but Thisara did not travel with them, after experiencing a delay in getting a UK visa for the main part of the tour. The allrounder, who hit the winning runs in the World T20 final, was part of Kings XI Punjab squad at the IPL in Dubai and was unable to get his passport and documents processed.

Eranga is due to leave for Ireland on Sunday. He was not in the T20 squad for England and hasn't played a limited-overs international since last year but is a key member of Sri Lanka's Test attack.

Sri Lanka have rested five senior players - Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Rangana Herath, Lasith Malinga and Tillakaratne Dilshan - for the ODIs against Ireland, which take place on Tuesday and Thursday next week.

Sri Lanka should go with 4 seamers(excluding mathews) and 1 spinner against ireland.sri lanka needs more fast bowlers who can bat well, I wonder why Mahroof and Prasad not getting chances but injury prone eranga and lakmal getting chances

It is really strange the way SLC continue to ignore Maharoof. Come to think of it, he was dropped for nearly two years only 2 matches after he got a match winning HATTRICK! He then made a comeback in 2012, and despite again bowling some crucial spells with the ball, he was dropped after just three months. Does SLC have something against him? Or do they simply not choose him because of his religion? If that is the case, then they are wasting one of the finest allrounders in SL...

How come he failed to get a visa on time? What was SLC doing?

Maharoof has been in better batting form than bowling form lately. So since Perera's batting will be missed he could have been a better option than Eranga.

Eranga is the best fast bowler not Medium fast bowler. Recently he is in his best. need to bring him to T-20 also.

Ferveez Maharoof is the best option. he is good in English conditions and his experience will help for the team as well. Also Janaka Gunarathne is a good alrounder as he proved in SL domestic. Why the selection committee not taking statics???

Maharoof is a good replacement for Tisara Perera than Eranga. He is a good allrounder with ODI experience

F. Maharoof would have been a perfect replacement for Thisara Perera since Maha has got pretty good experience in those conditions.

i think sri lanka should not have gone to ireland if they are not willing to give visa to thisara.

Where is Farveez Maharoof!? It looks like the selectors are making the mistake of underestimating Ireland. With all the seniors rested, SL need some experienced players like Maharoof, Kapugedara, J Mendis etc.
