126 Runs scored by Matt Prior on Test debut at Lord's in 2007. He is the only England keeper, and one of three keepers from all teams, to score a century on Test debut.

6 The most catches Prior has taken in a single Test innings, joint second-most by any England keeper. He did this during the Ashes Test against Australia in Melbourne in 2010, thereby equaling the Ashes record for the most keeper-catches in an innings.

3 Wicketkeepers in Test history who have scored 4000-plus runs at a 40-plus average, the others being Adam Gilchrist and Andy Flower. Prior scored 4099 runs at an average of 40.18.

61.6 Prior's strike rate over the course of his Test career, one of only three England batsmen to have scored 4000-plus runs at a 60-plus strike rate. The other two are Ian Botham and Kevin Pietersen.

1.75 Average dismissals per innings effected by Prior as a Test wicketkeeper, the best by any Englishman (min. 50 Tests). Prior effected 256 dismissals as a keeper, the second-most by any England keeper in Tests after Alan Knott (269 dismissals).

6 Number of times Prior has scored 250-plus runs at an average of more than 50 during a Test series. This feat has been accomplished by an England keeper on only 12 occasions, six of those by Prior. Alec Stewart has done it thrice, Les Ames twice and George Brown once.

52 Byes conceded by Prior against West Indies in Port of Spain in 2009, a world record for the most byes conceded in a Test match. However, he had scores of 131 and 61 with the bat, which also won him the Man-of-the-Match award in that Test.

35 Fifty-plus scores by Prior in Tests, the joint-most for any England keeper along with Knott. His seven hundreds is the second-most by any England keeper after Ames (8). In terms of total Test runs, Prior (4099) is third on the list of England keepers with Stewart (4540) and Knott (4389) ahead of him.

23 Catches taken by Prior during the 2010 Ashes in Australia, the joint-most by any England keeper during an Ashes series. Stewart had taken exactly as many catches during the 1997 Ashes in England.

79 Tests played by Prior, the joint second-fewest among keepers from any country who have effected 250-plus dismissals. Brad Haddin (260 dismissals) is the only keeper to have played fewer Tests (64).

All hail Matt Prior on a fabulous international career. I am baffled by the last statistics though.. What is the point of it. Prior took 79 tests to get to 250 dismissals and is compared to Dujon, how?? Dujon had over 270 dismissals in the same number of tests. Maybe I am dumb, but please can someone explain that to me.

I would of thought Sangakkara made 4000+ when he was playing as a keeper. Prior is in the top three full time batting keepers. Flower was a top order batsman (51 aver at 45 SR) who Zimbabwe built their innings around while Prior like Gilchrist (47 aver at 81 SR) were late order attackers who added to the damage or saved their sides on numerous occasions. Top player, sorry to see him go so early.
