As with the squat the deadlift is a fantastic base strength exercise if done correctly. Even though it has more upper body involvement, it is a very good base strength exercises as both upper and lower body must work together to perform a dead lift movement. One must take great care in making sure that technique is correct before adding weight plates to the bar. There are lots of benefits if the exercise is performed correctly. A gradual build up in resistance is important to make sure that the body gets used to the increase in weight/resistance.
