The Bangladesh Cricket Board has asked the Bangladeshi players and those associated with the team to not write columns in newspapers during the World Cup. This directive comes after Shakib Al Hasan wrote a column expressing his displeasure at criticism from former players after his side was bowled out for 58 against West Indies. The Daily Star reported that all the team members have been sent a letter asking them to stop writing columns and also "observe protocol when speaking to the media". Coach Jamie Siddons, too, was pretty harsh in his assessment of former players' views when he spoke at a press conference two days ago.
However, the newspaper also reported that the national contracts do not have a clause that can bar them from writing in newspapers. The BCB chief Manzur Ahmed told the paper that the board will make sure the renewed contract has such a clause.
In his column Shakib had suggested the former players had faced much more humiliation than the current side has encountered. Siddons said that the said former players don't "have the balls" to say things to his face, calling them "not courageous". Khaled Mahmud and Aminul Islam, former captains, have been vocal in their criticism of the current team, in particular the lack of fight shown.

We are missing the smile of Shakib, like the picture above. And we are missing it particularly on the field. Even in the match with Irish. Keep it back..Bro.
BanglaDesh will win the world cup. Just wait and watch. See how they will defeat every team from now on ...
@Faruq: You cannot compare India or New Zealand with BD as the amount of cricket played in those days was a lot lesser and the benefits of Test status(monetary), not so good. In terms of absolute matches or 'days of professional cricket' - I think both India and New Zealand had gained respectability a lot sooner than BD.
I am not saying BD dont deserve to play cricket. A fanatical fan base of 160 mn people is the best thing that has happened to cricket in many years. But the team has to do better. And the fans have to be a bit more humble
Win or lose is a part of game. We know that Bangladesh is a middle class team in the tournament. We never want to win against every team. According to our ability we can expect minimum three wins in the first round. But it is really painful to see such a defeat on 58. Come on boys...........RELAX!! Just try to play according to your experience and ability. Best of Luck Bangladesh!!!
so u bangladeshi mean to say bangladesh is the best side in the world n they will enter quater finals? i bet, they will not play in quarter finals. Sri lanka won the world cup, getting test status few years back. Bangladesh is no where near it. mark my world. bangladesh is out soon
One defeat is not everything.---one match defeat in world cup is not the ending or finishing of everything. we should more concentrate on Test matches to keep our test status. ...what happens against west indies....was pressure...we give our player lots of pressure and the ranking of our team ahead of West Indies and lots of expectations from our people. Still we should remember that only two match winners are in our team....Tamim and Sakib
suggestion for siddons for the match against england. bangladeshi batsman should be professional not emotional. batting score strategy never mind batting first or second. - after 3rd over 10/0 - after 5th over 30/0 - after 10th over 60/0 - after 15th over 90/1 - after 25th over 130/2 - after 35th over 180/3 - after 40th over 240/4 - from 41-50 over try to score as much as they can
Really Shobit? I agree that as far as cricketeting trms are concerned, we were given test status early. But no progress graph is simply a linear one; look at India's test graph (how many years did it take for them to win an overseas series again?) and you get a clearer picture. But if you look at BD's cricket over the last two years, it's clear that the team is in ascendancy.
As for IRL and ZIMB being better than BD, well, you really don't watch much cricket do you. Last four series series against Zimbabwe (both home and away) were nothing but absolute thrashing. As for IRL, they have never ever beaten us at home soil, (admittedly the same size is still small). India hardly wins outside of home. Does that make India a poor team? O wait, don't answer that.
it will all boil down to how well BD will play in the next 3 matches
Guys, give the team some leeway. The oldest member of the team is 28. So one can imagine the lack of conventional and in tun cricketing wisdom. The team has nothing but adrenaline and testosterone but no one to guide how to calm their nerves which doesn't necessarily help in strategic planning. Practice is the only way they can improve. ICC did the right thing in granting them test status. However, the team needs to show some collective efforts and should not rely on individuals too much. It is very easy to criticize but extremely hard to deliver. So ex-captains need to introspect their times and offer support. Criticism is the last thing the team needs from seniors. Besides, coach's role is very critical here. While I'm sure Siddons is doing a great job, the tigers actually need a task master like Chappell. They are in desperate need of a harsh-teacher rather than a friendly collaborator.
