Abahani maintained their second position in the table with a 69-run win over Brothers Union in Fatullah. Early morning fog reduced the match to a 42-overs-a-side affair.
Batting first, Abahani made 191 for 9 with Litton Das' 42-ball 40 that had seven fours. Alongside Abdul Mazid, who made 37, Litton gave Abahani a good start, adding 84 for the first wicket. Joe Denly took three wickets in six overs for 19 runs.
In reply, Brothers Union's innings never quite took off despite a decent start. They were eventually bowled out for 122 runs in 41.2 overs with Nasir Hossain taking three wickets, as only four batsmen reached double-figures.
Kalabagan Cricket Academy are hot in the heels of Abahani with their 37-run win over neighbours Kalabagan Krira Chakra in Mirpur.
No. 6 Sabbir Rahman kept KCA in the hunt with a 67-ball 73 that had six fours and two sixes after they slipped to 82 for 5 in the 24th over. He added 92 runs for the sixth wicket with Mehedy Hasan, who made 31 off 51 balls. Left-arm spinners Abdur Razzak and Nasum Ahmed took three wickets each to restrict KCA to 215.
KKC never took off in the chase, bowled out for 178 in 45.4 overs. Tasamul Haque was the main source of resistance with an unbeaten 60 off 89 balls. Imtiaz Hossain took three wickets and Bishwanath Halder and Mehedy took two each.
In another over-reduced game, Victoria Sporting Club beat Old DOHS Sports Club by six wickets at BKSP-3.
Batting first in a 34-overs-a-side game, Old DOHS made 159 for 6 with Nihaduzzaman's unbeaten 54. In reply, Mahbubul Karim then blasted 68 off 58 balls and added 124 for the opening wicket with Jashimuddin to power Victoria through to a quick win with 5.3 overs to spare.
