†AUSTRALIA v NEW ZEALAND 1985-86

At Adelaide, January 27

15-Apr-1987
At Adelaide, January 27. New Zealand won by 206 runs. The New Zealand experiment of opening with Bracewell failed in the first over, but Edgar, Martin Crowe and Wright moved the innings along briskly. With the next four batsmen hitting out freely New Zealand reached an imposing but not impossible score to justify Coney's decision to bat. However, the Australian batting, facing Hadlee in his dominant Test match mood, and Chatfield at his most economical, collapsed dramatically. Coney caught brilliantly, and in 26.3 overs Australia were all out for 70, equalling their lowest score in one-day matches. It was New Zealand's biggest win and Australia's biggest defeat in terms of runs in one-day internationals.
Man of the Match: R. J. Hadlee. Attendance: 25,742.
