†AUSTRALIA v PAKISTAN 1988-89

At Adelaide, December 11

15-Apr-1990
At Adelaide, December 11. Australia won by nine wickets. Toss: Pakistan. After Pakistan had lost a second one-sided match, their captain, Imran Khan, said he had no idea how under-prepared his team would be found to be. Choosing to bat first this time, Pakistan began to promise better things when Salim Malik and Javed Miandad were together; but a nasty blow on the foot from McDermott led to Miandad being bowled, after which some tight Australian cricket left Pakistan with 2.2 overs unused when their innings ended. Morning drizzle had again caused a slight revision of the match - to 48 overs a side rather than the prescribed 50. Australia knocked off the runs at their leisure, Jones marking his return to the side with an unbeaten 55. Mark Waugh's selection for Australia signalled the first appearance in international cricket of twins.
Man of the Match: M. G. Hughes. Attendance: 12,552.
