Mumbai 289 for 4 (Muzumdar 65, Indulkar 62, Jaffer 50) beat Orissa 131 (Bahutule 5-24) by 158 runs
A solid batting display helped Mumbai amass 289 before Sairaj Bahutule spun his web to help rout Orissa by 158 runs in the quarter-finals of the Ranji one-day tournament at Mumbai. Wasim Jaffer, Amol Muzumdar and Vinit Indulkar cracked half-centuries as Mumbai raced to 289 in their first innings. Orissa had managed to overcome a large Karnataka total in their previous game but stumbled to a paltry score against Bahutule's legspin.
Uttar Pradesh 251 (Jyoti Yadav 88, Shukla 61) beat Punjab 215 (Gupta 4-40) by 36 runs
Jyoti Prakash Yadav steered Uttar Pradesh to a comfortable victory over Punjab in the quarter-finals of the Ranji one-day tournament in Mumbai. Yadav's 88 helped lay the foundation before Ravikant Shukla's breezy 61 took UP to a competitive 251. Punjab were on course to the target at 176 for 4 but the loss of Pankaj Dharmani's wicket triggered a collapse from which they never recovered. Pavin Gupta, the left-arm spinner, starred with the ball for UP and finished with 4 for 40.
