Bracewell-Fleming meeting worthwhile for new manager

New Zealand's effort in getting their team management together before the tour to India, albeit in England, had been a useful exercise, according to team manager Lindsay Crocker.

After returning to his Christchurch base today, Crocker said John Bracewell hadn't met the stand-in coach Ashley Ross before and it had been important to get an understanding of the medium-to-longer term view, so that they could cater for the short term before Bracewell picks up the team in December.

"It was good to catch up with Braces because I haven't worked with him for six or seven years and I have never worked with Stephen Fleming. We managed to cover a whole range of issues over two days of meetings and a chat one evening. We sorted out things from the management and playing sides of things.

"We looked at how things will work in training and what sorts of traditions and ceremonies we would look to keep or change. We also brought him up to date with players and player-depth.

"He has a busy run in with Gloucestershire and the final of the one-day competition at Lord's is a big occasion for the club and he needs to concentrate on that for the next month or so," Crocker said.
