Wisden's review of the tenth match, Australia v India, Commonwealth Bank Series, 2011-12

15-Apr-2013
At Sydney, February 26, 2012 (day/night). Australia won by 87 runs. Australia 5pts. Toss: Australia.
Another SCG clash between Australia and India was mired in controversy. If this was not quite the Bollyline Test of 2007-08, then two incidents involving batsmen trying to complete a run left a sour taste. David Hussey could have been given out on 17, but India's appeal for handled the ball (or possibly obstructing the field) was rejected in the belief that he had blocked Raina's throw to protect his body rather than his wicket. Dhoni later complained that Hussey should have been given out "plain and simple", although he was going to reach his ground easily in any case. Later, Tendulkar was exasperated when an accidental collision with Lee, the bowler, led to his own run-out - and more displeasure from Dhoni.
With Clarke sidelined by a stiff back, Watson's first appearance of the Australian summer after a nagging calf injury was also his first captaining his country. Central to their total were Warner's solid 66-ball innings and a 94-run partnership between Hussey and Wade. Dhoni was again called upon to rescue India, but his usual early caution did not pay off, and his demise - without a boundary after 49 balls - signalled the end. Australia's win sealed their place in the finals, and left India needing Sri Lanka to lose their last two games to stand a chance of qualification.
